Saturday - Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Job Fair: If you're between the ages of 14-18 and are looking for a job, this Saturday brings you the perfect opportunity to find one! The Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program will be held from 8:00am-3:00pm at the Morton Civic Center. There will be a total of 192 summer positions available, many of them right in Evanston. Bring your resume and look sharp!

Earth Month Activities and Events: Earth Day is right around the corner and over 1 billion people across the world will be celebrating the event. In honor of this special day, Evanston will, of course, be providing plenty of ways to get involved in the action. Check out the Earth Month Activities and Events taking place throughout the month.

Street Sweeping Notifications via Text or E-Mail: It's frustrating when you forget about street sweeping taking place on your block, right? Now you don't have to worry about forgetting with Evanston's new tool that allows residents to receive street sweeping notifcations via text or e-mail.

Season Beach Tokens Available Now: Season beach tokens are now on sale at the Morton Civic Center. Evanston's five public beaches will open on May 26th. This year the City of Evanston and the Skokie Park District have reached an agreement where Evanston residents can purchase Skokie pool passes at resident rates and Skokie residents can purchase Evanston beach tokens at resident rates.

Aging Well Conference Focuses on Healthy Aging Strategies: The 14th annual Aging Well Conference is coming up on May 4th! The event will take place at the North Shore Retirement Hotel and will include two workshops focusing on strategies for healthy aging. Get the details at www.CityofEvanston.org.

April is "Evanston CAN Recycle!" Month: Get ready to make April a month devoted to recycling. The City of Evanston is participating in the Cans for Cash Recycling Challenge for the six year in a row. This month, try to recycle as many aluminum cans as possible! Remember, this is a contest and Evanston hopes to win $25,000 in awards which will go towards recycling efforts through educational programs. Ready, set, recycle!

Bulk Trash Days: The Street and Sanitation Division offers the removal of six cubic yards of bulk garbage twice per year for FREE! Check out www.CityofEvanston.org to find out when your bulk trash pickup will be based on your normal refuse pickup day.

In the Works Public Works Newsletter Now Available Online: The 2012 Spring edition of In the Works is now available online. Get caught up on Evanston news and info about yard waste, street clenaing, construction and recycling.

Yard Waste - Recycling & Waste: Make sure to read up on the rules and regulations for 2012's yard waste and recycling programs. This year there will be three options for disposal of yard waste and you can find out more by visiting www.cityofevanston.org.

CPR Classes - Fire: Knowing how to properly execute CPR is a great skill to have. If you are interested in learning more, Evanston Fire & Life Saftey Services is offering two CPR courses authorized by the American Heart Assocation. Click here to check out dates and times for future courses!

City Seeks Volunteer Greeters for Morton Civic Center: If you're looking for ways to extend a helping hand around Evanston to make it a better place to live and work, then here's the thing for you! The City of Evanston Volunteer Program is looking for greeters at the Civic Center. Learn more about this opportunity at www.cityofevanston.org/volunteer.

National Drinking Water Week Art Contest: Vote for your favorite masterpiece through May 12th! In light of National Drinking Water Week, Evanston is holding a coloring contest for 3rd grade students. The artwork will showcase their ideas of why water is important to them. Voting is now open and the winning pieces are displayed at the Evanston Public Library. The winner will receive beach tokens for this summer!

Police and E.T.H.S. Team Up to Promote Text-a-Tip Program: February 2nd kicked off the Text-a-Tip campaign at Evanston Township High School. The Text-a-Tip protocol encourages students to use this feature to report illegal activity or information on crimes in or around the school's campus or throughout the City of Evanston. The City of Evanston hopes that the program will not only be used by E.T.H.S. students, but all residents of Evanston who have access to a cell phone.

Online Homework Help Launched at the Evanston Public Library: If you are looking for homework help, look no further than Brainfuse, an online homework help service providing live, online support to students in many different areas. All that's required to log in is a valid Evanston Public Library card and internet access. A great feature of Brainfuse which is available to all students is the Writing Lab.
